These Website Terms of Use govern your use of DontBanCryptoATMs.ca, a Canadian public advocacy website operated by the organizers of DontBanCryptoATMs.ca.
By using this website, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the website.
1. Purpose of the website
DontBanCryptoATMs.ca provides a public advocacy tool about the proposed federal crypto ATM ban in Canada.
The website allows users to:
- enter a Canadian postal code;
- identify a federal MP using public representative lookup data;
- generate a draft email;
- open a mailto link;
- copy/paste the email text into their own email app; and
- submit an optional testimonial about their experience.
The website does not send email for users.
2. No legal, financial, investment, or professional advice
The website provides general public-interest advocacy information. It is not legal advice, financial advice, investment advice, lobbying advice, compliance advice, or professional advice.
You are responsible for deciding whether to use the tool, what to write, whether to send any message, and whether to seek professional advice.
3. User responsibility for messages
Any email generated by this website is only a draft.
You are responsible for:
- reviewing the recipient;
- reviewing the subject and body;
- editing the message as you see fit;
- deciding whether to send it;
- ensuring that your message is accurate, lawful, respectful, and not misleading.
Do not use the website to send abusive, threatening, defamatory, harassing, deceptive, unlawful, or spam-like messages.
If you submit a testimonial, you are responsible for making sure it is accurate, respectful, and appropriate. Testimonials may be used to support the campaign and shown to Canadian representatives. Do not include sensitive personal information in a testimonial.
4. No server-side email sending
This website does not send messages to MPs or anyone else on your behalf.
If you use a mailto link, your own browser, device, operating system, email app, or email provider may process the draft message. We do not control those third-party services.
5. Campaign attribution
The website may capture UTM parameters from campaign links, including utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign, utm_term, and utm_content, so the organizers can understand campaign activity and referral sources.
Website visits may be stored as page-load attribution events, and lookup submissions may be stored as separate lookup-submission attribution events with the selected audience type, lookup outcome, and timestamp. UTM fields may be blank when no UTM parameters are provided. If you click "Open email app," an email-app click attribution event may be stored with available UTM parameters, selected audience type, lookup outcome, and timestamp.
This helps us understand campaign activity, referral sources, and fall-off between UTM-tagged page loads and lookup submissions, as well as how often users open their email app from the tool.
This attribution feature is not used to store postal codes, names, personal notes, generated email subjects or bodies, completed messages, email addresses, wallet addresses, or financial information.
Do not place sensitive personal information in URLs, UTM parameters, form fields, or generated messages.
6. Site language
The website offers English and French. It may use region headers supplied by the hosting provider or content delivery network, derived from IP address, to show French by default to visitors who appear to be in Quebec. Other visitors see English by default.
You can switch languages at any time. The language switch may be stored in the site session. The selected language changes the interface and suggested email drafts, but you remain responsible for reviewing any message before sending it.
7. MP lookup accuracy
The website uses public representative lookup data, including OpenNorth Represent API, cached postal-code lookup records, aggregate lookup counts for cached postal codes, and fallback public sources.
MP lookup results may be inaccurate, incomplete, outdated, unavailable, or affected by postal-code boundary issues. Postal codes can cross electoral boundaries or fail to map cleanly to a riding.
If the result looks wrong, use the official House of Commons MP lookup: https://www.ourcommons.ca/Members/en
8. External links
The website may link to external websites, including public data providers, government sources, fraud-prevention resources, and email services.
External links are provided for convenience and reference. We do not control external websites and are not responsible for their accuracy, availability, content, privacy practices, security, or terms.
9. Acceptable use

We may block, rate-limit, suspend, or restrict access if we believe the website is being misused.
